The Dynamic Edge® RPM The Dynamic Edge
Rehab System incorporates principles of balance boards,
wobble boards, lateral hopping (plyometrics), as well
as concentric and eccentric resistance exercises to
the quadriceps and hamstrings. This machine also provides
core muscle strengthening and increased muscle balance
function. To increase weight bearing, resistance and
overload principles, a weight vest is available as
an accessory option.
Dynamic
Edge RPM includes:
1)
2 Tilt Board Angulating Footpads
The Dynamic Edge accomplishes balance and coordination
training by using individual tilt boards to stand
on while performing side-to-side sliding movements.
The 2 independent-action footpads allow medial/lateral
tilting.
2)
Slide Board Aluminum Slide Plate
The Aluminum slide plate allows the 2 independent-action
footpads to be adjusted quickly into 8 stance positions.
This also offers the trainer the ability to upgrade
to the Upper Body Edge.
3)
Assistant Coach Balance Bar
The Assistant Coach Balance Bar is provided for balance
throughout varying stages of rehab. It also provides
the option of variable locations for resistance cords.
4)
13 Quick Change Progressive Resistance
Quick release pins for immediate changing of resistance
to any one of 13 different levels to accommodate all
ages and abilities.
5)
Poles for Balance and Coordination Poles provide a natural progression
for developing balance and coordination. Ergonomic
grips for comfort. Made of light-weight aircraft aluminum.
Non-marking rubber tips protect floors.
The
Dynamic Edge provides a safe and effective complete
ACL rehab program. Recent studies indicate that balance,
coordination and perturbation training is vital in
the rehab of ACL injuries. Tilt boards, roller boards,
slide boards and wobble boards have been used as important
rehab tools for ACL rehab. Lloyd D, in JOPST 2001:31,
demonstrated that stability and balance training stimulated
ligament and capsule proprioceptors reinforcing co-contraction
of muscles leading to improvement in joint stability.
Fitzgerald, Axe, Snyder-Mackler (Physical Therapy
2000:80) demonstrated that subjects with non-operative
ACL injuries were 5 times more likely to successfully
return to high-level physical activities if they received
perturbation training than if they received only the
standard strength and conditioning program.

balance and coordination exercise.
Advanced side-to-side balance
and coordination exercise.
